At Farm-in-the-Sky we use low-cost, easily replicable technology to model how food can be grown in the city. We aim to inspire New Yorkers to utilize their roof, patio or terrace to grow their own food. Come visit and be inspired!
Farm-in-the-Sky underwent a trial run at the end of last summer, which proved successful despite a roof-top plant evacuation prompted by Hurricane Irene. We will primarily grow micro-greens and herbs; space will also be devoted to developing and testing new crops and farming techniques.

EcoStation also operates three seasonal farmers' markets, last year founding an organic farm at Bushwick Campus, a local high school that is home to four progressive charter schools. They recently finished construction of a greenhouse at Bushwick Campus Farm with partner Boswyck Farms that incorporates aquaponic, hydroponic, and traditional, soil-based growing methods. All of their projects promote sustainable (local and organic) agriculture.
Produce grown at both Bushwick Campus Farm and Farm-in-the-Sky goes directly to the community via EcoStation's farmers' markets and farm stands throughout Bushwick, and to several local restaurants eager to support local agriculture. Proceeds help fund the organization's efforts at Bushwick Campus, which include a summer youth training and employment program (in partnership with Green Guerillas).
